Privacy Policy
TechTunes builds privacy-first apps. We do not track you, sell your data, or require an account. This page explains what each of our products does and does not collect.
Last updated: September 20, 2026
Our approach
TechTunes apps are designed to collect only what is needed to provide the product, and to keep that data on your device whenever possible. We do not run analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or cross-app tracking. We do not require you to create an account to use our apps.
GradeMyDrive
GradeMyDrive is an iPhone app for teen drivers and parents. It scores trips from GPS and device motion, then stores grades on the device. There is no GradeMyDrive account and no TechTunes cloud backend for trips.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking. GradeMyDrive contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, and no cross-app tracking. We do not sell trip data or use it for advertising.
- No account required. There is no sign-in and no CloudKit / iCloud sync. Trip history, GPS points, motion-derived events, grades, goals, privileges, and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone using SwiftData.
- Location. During an active trip, GradeMyDrive uses GPS (When In Use, and optionally Always while a trip is recording so scoring can continue if the screen locks) to measure speed, route, and smoothness. Location access is used for app functionality only. Tracking stops when the trip ends. Precise location used for scoring stays on your device except as described below for posted speed limits.
- Motion and sensors. The gyroscope, accelerometer, and related sensors detect harsh braking, sharp turns, and phone pickup while moving. Motion data is processed on-device and is not uploaded to TechTunes.
- Posted speed limits (Overpass / OpenStreetMap). While
driving, GradeMyDrive may send the current coordinate to the
public Overpass API (
overpass-api.de) solely to look up a posted speed limit for scoring. Requests use an ephemeral network session so coordinates are not written to the URL cache. Overpass / OpenStreetMap operators may log requests under their own practices; TechTunes does not receive a copy of those queries. - Family sharing. Shared trip files are sent peer-to-peer (for example AirDrop, Messages, or Mail) when you choose to share. There is no live cloud tracking and no GradeMyDrive cloud login for parents.
- In-app purchases. GradeMyDrive Plus is a one-time unlock processed by Apple's StoreKit. Your Apple ID and payment details are handled by Apple — GradeMyDrive never sees or stores them. The app only reads whether you are entitled to Plus, using on-device verification. A free-trip counter may be stored in the Keychain on that device so free starts are not reset by reinstalling alone.
Radio Retro
Radio Retro is an internet radio app for iPhone. It does not collect, track, or share personal data.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking. Radio Retro contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, and no tracking identifiers. The app's privacy nutrition label declares no data collection.
- No account required. There is no sign-in. Favorites, presets, custom skins, listening reminders, and other preferences are stored locally on your device using SwiftData.
- In-app purchases. Radio Retro Plus is a one-time purchase processed by Apple's StoreKit. Your Apple ID and payment details are handled by Apple — Radio Retro never sees or stores them. The app only reads whether you are entitled to Plus, using on-device verification.
- Custom stream URLs. If you add your own internet radio stream URLs, they are stored locally on your device and used only to play audio you have chosen. They are not transmitted to TechTunes.
- Photo access. Plus members can customize chassis skins with their own images. Photo access is requested only when you choose to add a custom skin, the selected image is stored locally on your device, and it never leaves the device.
- Internet radio streams. Stations are streamed from third-party internet radio providers (including the Radio Browser directory and any custom URLs you add). Those providers may have their own privacy practices that are outside TechTunes' control.
techtunes.app website
This website is a marketing and support site for TechTunes apps. It is hosted on Vercel.
- Beta signup and contact forms. If you sign up for the beta or send a message through the contact form, we store the email address and any message content you submit so we can reply and send updates. This is stored in a database and used only for direct communication from TechTunes.
- Email delivery. Signup and contact messages are delivered through a third-party email provider (Resend). The email address you submit is shared with that provider solely to deliver the message.
- No tracking cookies. techtunes.app does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Standard hosting and delivery logs may be retained by Vercel as part of operating the site.
Children's privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under 13. GradeMyDrive is intended for teen drivers and their parents/guardians; trip and sensor data stay on the device except for the posted-speed-limit lookup described above. Radio Retro is rated 4+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 on our servers. If you believe a child has provided us personal information (for example via the website signup form), please contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention and deletion
- App data. Radio Retro data (favorites, presets, skins, reminders) and GradeMyDrive trip history, grades, and related on-device data are stored on your device. Uninstalling the app removes that local data. GradeMyDrive’s free-trip counter stored in the Keychain may persist across reinstalls on the same iPhone until the Keychain entry is cleared by the system or device erase.
- Beta signup data. Your email remains in our database until you ask us to remove it. Email feedback@techtunes.app to request deletion.
Third parties
Our apps and techtunes.app interact with the following third parties, each under their own privacy policies:
- Apple (StoreKit, App Store): processes in-app purchases and app distribution.
- Overpass API (OpenStreetMap): receives current-location queries from GradeMyDrive solely to look up posted speed limits during trips.
- Radio Browser API: provides the station directory used for Radio Retro search.
- Third-party internet radio stations: stream audio you select in Radio Retro.
- Vercel: hosts techtunes.app.
- Resend: delivers email from the signup and contact forms.
